H&C® Super V™ Water Based Water Repellent

H&C Super V™ Water Repellent is a self-emulsifying, siloxane concentrate which when mixed with water and agitated, forms a micro-emulsion suitable for application to above grade, dense or porous masonry surfaces. This can be applied to dry and even slightly damp surfaces.

Where to Use

  1. Concrete walls
  2. Stucco
  3. Concrete, fluted, and split faced block
  4. Precast and poured concrete
  5. Brick
  6. Highways and bridge decks
  7. Cement floors
  8. Roof tile

Key Advantages

H&C Super V™ Water Repellent provides excellent water repellency, and is suitable for both dry and slightly damp surfaces. It ensures a long last breathable barrier and is a permeable to water vapor. H&C Super V™ shows superior resistance to water, acid rain, efflorescence, alkalis, acids, ultra-violet light and staining.  It also minimized iron staining by helping prevent reinforcing steel from corroding and deteriorating due to water intrusion.

Product Data Sheet

  1. Product Supplies

You'll need a 5-gallon plastic bucket, a stiff broom, a stiff bristled nylon or polyester brush, and a low-pressure airless sprayer, conventional sprayer or power roller.

    Airless sprayer

    Pressure: 200 psi

    Tip: .013" - .015"

    Conventional Sprayer

    Air pressure: 10-15 psi

    Fluid Pressure: 5-10 psi

    Cap/Tip size: 704FX or equivilant

  2. Product Preparation

Air and surface temperature should be between 50° and 90°F for 24 hours following application. This will ensure proper product penetration.  You must protect the coating from rain for 4 to 5 hours to allow the water repellent to become effective.

If applying to a new, porous broom finished surface, no etching is necessary.  However, if applying to a non porous surface, you must thoroughly etch the concrete prior to applying.

  3. Product Application

In your plastic bucket, mix one part repellent to nine parts clean, room temperature water (i.e., mix a 1/2 gallon container of repellent concentrate, mix it into 4.5 gallons of water). Because you are working with a concentrate, be sure to agitate the solution thoroughly to evenly mix the water with the concentrate.

NOTE: Do not overdilute, as this will drastically reduce the effectiveness of the solution. And mix only as much material as you will use within 24 hours, otherwise the solution becomes ineffective.

For horizontal applications, after surface prep, sweep the surface with a stiff broom to remove any remaining residue.

Two coats are required if you are not topcoating this product.

If your surface has corners or edges, coat those with your brush first to assure complete coverage of the water repellent.

Using a low pressure airless sprayer, conventional sprayer or power roller, apply your first coat.

For best results, use a low pressure sprayer so the solution is applied in the form of droplets rather than a mist.

Vertical surfaces must be "flooded," allowing the material to run down 8 to 10 inches. Always work from the bottom up.

Horizontal surfaces can be applied by the "flood" method or with a conventional roller or brush as long as enough material is used so it can stand for a few seconds before completely penetrating.

Let your first coat dry 24 hours before applying your second coat.

Please note: When dry, treated surfaces appear identical to untreated surfaces so it's difficult to determine whether or not you have already treated an area. Be sure, when taking a break, to stop applying either on a corner or any other obvious marker so you can re-start the application exactly where you ended it.
