Product Data Sheet

  1. Product Supplies

    • Brush - Use a Synthetic bristle brush.
    • Roller - Use a 3/8” to 1/2” nap synthetic fiber roller.
    • Pump Up Sprayer - Pressure: 5 - 15 psi, Tip: Cone
  2. Product Preparation

Bare Concrete: New concrete must be cured a minimum of 28 days and have a pH between 6-10. Concrete surfaces should be clean, free of dirt, oil, grease and other contaminants. New concrete surfaces should be swept clean of debris, however, depending on prior use, washing with 2,000 psi pressure cold water may be necessary. Chemical cleaning or high-pressure hot water should be used on previous in service concrete surfaces. Rinse thoroughly after any chemical cleaning. The surface should have a feel similar to 120 grit sandpaper and the pores must be opened up sufficiently to allow immediate penetration of H&C® Concrete and Driveway Protector.

To determine porosity, splash water on the surface to be protected. If the water rapidly absorbs and darkens the surface, the surface is porous and can be sealed. If water beads on the surface and does not darken it has been treated. Please contact 1-800-867- 8246 for further assistance. The product should be tested in an inconspicuous spot for penetration and compatibility prior to full scale application.

  3. Product Application

***Please refer to the Product Data Page for full Product Application information.

Before application, the surface should be completely dry. Allow at least 24 hours for drying, if surface was wet. Do not apply below 40°F (4°C) or above 95°F (35°C). If freezing conditions exist before application, let the substrate thaw. Do not apply if rain is expected within 3 hours. Do not apply during windy conditions. Do not dilute or alter this product.

Apply H&C® Concrete and Driveway Protector with pump up sprayer, low-pressure spray equipment (15 psi), roller or broom. Use a cone type spray nozzle for greatest efficiency. Avoid atomization of material. On horizontal surfaces, saturate in a single application. Use enough material to keep the surface wet for 2-3 minutes before penetration. Broom or Back roll out any puddles until excess material soaks into the surface. Dense surfaces will only require a single application. On vertical surfaces, apply the material from the bottom of the wall upwards spraying so that it will run down the surface at least six inches below the spray pattern. Use enough to completely wet the surface without creating drips, puddles or rundown. Do not over apply. Test for application rate. Typically, the surface can be reopened to foot traffic in one hour, if the temperature is at 72°F (22°C) or above.  Surface should be visibly dry.

    Dry to touch: 1 hour
    Light traffic: 2 hours
    Heavy traffic: 72 hours
*NOTE: High humidity and /or low temperatures will affect drying time.

    Clean Up
Clean sprayer and tools with warm soapy water immediately following application.
