Product Preparation
Newly pored concrete must be cured a minimum of 28 days. Remove all laitance, efflorescence, chemical contaminants, grease, oil, old paint, and other foreign matter. The prepared surface must be clean and structurally sound. Shot blasting, scarifying or water blasting may be necessary to achieve the proper profile for both a chemical and mechanical bond. Acid etching or other treatments should be evaluated for profiling. H&C Etching Solution is an effective, safe alternative to muriatic acid. Substrate must be 40°F and rising before installation. Surface at 90°F and above must be cooled before installation. Dampen area with fog tipped sprayer before using, leaving no puddles.
On irregular slabs requiring extensive patching, it is recommended to use H&C Quick Patch & Repair. H&C Dual Component Texture will sag and shrink in deeper pits and voids. H&C Dual Component Texture may be installed in multiple lifts to create a superior smooth surface. As the product dries, scrape and use leaf blower to remove loose material.
H&C Texture Resin & Bond Coat should be blended prior to the addition of the Dual Component Texture using a 2:1 ratio of water to resin (i.e.. 10-gallons water to 5-gallons resin). Never add water to dry material. When mixing, use a separate clean 5-gal bucket and always add the dry material to 4-6qts of resin to start. More resin may be added to achieve desired texture viscosity. Allow blended mix to set five to ten minutes (in shaded area). The mix will reach an initial false/preset; remix, adding small amounts of resin mix until original consistency is achieved.

Product Application
Base Coat: Some old uneven or pitted surface may require a base coat prior to the desired final application. Mix one 50lb bag of H&C Dual Component Texture to 4 to 6 quarts of diluted H&C Resin & Bond Coat (2:1, water:resin dilution) in a clean mixing vessel (always add dry material to the liquid). Apply in ambient and substrate temperatures between 40ºF and rising and 90ºF. Cover or mask all areas requiring protection with tape and paper so that material does not bond to unwanted surfaces. Dampen concrete before applying base coat. Concrete MUST be damp with no standing water prior to base coat application. Mechanically mix to a lump-free consistency. Pour mixed material onto the existing damp slab and steel squeegee a tight coat (usually less than 1/16"), depending on desired finish. This will fill in any slight inconsistencies in the concrete surface and leave a flat, even base that is essential for successful application. A very irregular slab with divots and spalls should be patched prior to application of base coat. When the base coat is dry (24 hrs), scrape the surface and sweep or use leaf blower to remove loose material.
Finish Coat: The finish coat is exactly the same as the base coat including the ratios and mixing instructions. Dampen the base coat (SSD). Depending on desired look, the finish coat can be trowelled or hopper gunned down to the surface. The H&C Dual Component Texture MUST be treated with a good quality concrete sealer, stain/sealer or coating for protection. Allow the H&C Dual Component Texture to dry 24hours before application of any concrete sealer, stain/sealer or coating. Follow manufacture’s application instructions prior to the application of a concrete sealer, stain or coating.
